Milepost 44: The Wheat Gathered in the Barns

Primary References: Revelation 15:1-8

Two themes permeate Revelation 15: the approaching last seven judgments of God and the gathering of the wheat (the great tribulation saints) into the barn of heaven. Revelation 15 intermingles the two themes suggesting that the two events happen simultaneously.

Revelation 15's saints are a unique group of believers. Their presence in heaven and their victories over foes not present until the great tribulation (the beast, his image, his mark, and the number of his name) prove they are the great tribulation's martyred saints. These saints missed the rapture, witnessed the erection of the beast's image, refused the mark of the beast, and were obedient to the angels' preaching before being martyred for their righteousness. Now, their presence in heaven, standing on a sea of glass mingled with fire, testifies that they died in Jesus' harvest while obeying the preaching of the angels. The sea of glass may represent:

  • The sea of humanity these saints have both come from and overcome
  • The many judgments they have passed through (the fire)
  • Peace (the glassy nature of the sea)

These saints are the righteous of humanity who have passed through judgments of God and are worthy. They are no longer at war with God but have now found the peace that passes understanding.

The great tribulation saints sing a song that is a combination of the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb. The first song is the Old Testament covenant and the second is the New Testament. This shows that these saints have the hope and the promises of both covenants and probably indicates that both Jew and gentile are represented. Their song looks forward to the end of God's judgments and Jesus' earthly return when they declare that all will fear God and all nations shall worship before Jesus.
