Dominion Phase Overview

Primary References: Revelation 20:4-9

The tribulation in general and specifically, the battle of Armageddon leaves governments in chaos and all critical infrastructure in dysfunctional ruins. Into this power vacuum, Jesus immediately starts installing His new government. As suggested by Daniel 12:11-12 and Daniel 8:14, this process requires approximately one year (see the last entry of Table 22, blessings for those waiting to the end). During this hectic transition, Jesus squashes any remaining resistance to His government, judges people and nations, brings all Jews back to Israel, divides and partitions the land of Israel, and establishes new governments for every nation on earth. Historically, transitional periods have lasted many years (e.g., in Germany and Japan after World War II) but the situation is desperate so mercifully, Jesus acts quickly

After this transition, Jesus and His saints govern the earth and bring about a time of unparalleled prosperity. During this time, Jesus establishes the capital of the world in Jerusalem where at first, He rules from a throne in the tabernacle of David (Isaiah 16:5) but He later moves it to Jerusalem’s final temple after its completion. For the next thousand years the world experiences nothing but peace and prosperity until God opens the bottomless pit and releases Satan to once again stir up dissent and one final rebellion, which serves to once again separate the righteous and wicked.

Milepost 66: Jews Return to Israel

The first step on Matthew 25’s transition timeline is Jesus’ judgment of the Jews but before this can happen, they must be gathered from wherever they have been driven throughout the world back to Israel (Ezekiel 20:33-38).

Milepost 67: Judgment of the Jews

Jesus judges (pass under the rod) the Jews and purges the nation of all rebels and transgressors (idol worshippers). Similar to the servants' judgments in the kingdom of heaven parable of the nobleman and his three servants, this judgment focuses on works (actions) of those under judgment.

Milepost 68: Judgment of Gentiles

The judgments of the gentiles follow the Jews' judgment. These judgments occur in two stages: individual and national. This section covers the first of these, individual judgments while the next section covers the later, national judgment.

Milepost 69: Judgment of the Nations

Matthew 25:31-46 provides virtually all known details of the gentile nations’ judgments. Following the individual judgments, Jesus calls the nations together for their judgment.

Milepost 70: Israel Partitioned

Sometime during the transition to Jesus’ reign, Jesus divides the land of Israel among the tribes of Israel and their survivors. It is unlikely the division of the land occurs before the judgment of the Jews since Jesus would have to redistribute the inheritance of anyone purged in the judgments.

Milepost 71: Dominions Divided

The final piece of the transition involves the appointment of millennial rulers. John sees these rulers, appointed by Jesus probably just after He establishes national dominions and boundaries through the judgment of nations.

Milepost 72: The King's Feast

The transition period ends with Jesus giving a grand feast (the King’s feast) on His mountain for all people. Unlike the marriage supper, which was prepared and served by the Groom’s Father, this feast is prepared and served by the King (the Lord of Hosts who saved Israel and swallowed up death in victory, Jesus Christ). It consists of the very best the earth has to offer including fatted animals and finest wines (Isaiah 25:6) and is probably similar to one held by Solomon at the first temple’s dedication.

Milepost 73: Jesus’ Thousand Year Reign

It is fair to say that anyone surviving until now is truly one of Daniel’s blessed ones (Daniel 12:12). Unparalleled peace and prosperity throughout the earth distinguish the rest of Jesus’ reign.

Milepost 74: Third Temple Built

The Bible records the construction of two prior temples: Solomon and Ezra’s. The glory of God (also known as the Shekinah glory) filled the first but was apparently absent from the second.
